American Singer Songwriter Chris James is back making music after 20 years since his roots. CJ began his craft back in 2003 under R&B Label CMentBoot Ent., where he wrote & produced for other artists. Following his departure from the Bronx based label in 2005 he released his debut indie album titled "...Make Me Scream!" which spanned two top ten hits, "Right Here" & "Destination Unknown" on the Euro Pop Charts. The minimal success of “Right Here” allowed a re-release digitally in 2007. By 2009, CJ released his follow up effort by magically crafting a soft rock pop album "Coming Back Around" showcasing a Top 40 American Idol underground hit with "I'll Survive", followed by "Moving on without you", "World We Live" & the underground smash "Not Ur Mr. Right". These tracks were a far cry from the dance pop sound of his debut. The album helped CJ crack a new territory, Asia, as to date it is still generating monthly listeners than any other release. By 2010, "Never Again" was released, bringing Chris right back into the pop dance scene. The vibe was right, soon after Mr. James had released 3 new singles "Jealous", "Call out My Name" & "Inside You" (the theme of Purple Day 2011) which later appeared on the 2013 release, "Return to the Scene of the Beat". After returning to the scene, more music followed by the end of 2013 with an original holiday album, simply titled "I Put the Chris in Christmas" which was recently re-released as “This Holiday”, the highest charting song by CJ today. Look out Mariah Carey. By this point, Chris had performed on numerous platforms such as the Wendy Williams show & the Matt Martin show. Other venues/gigs like Pride Festivals in the Tri-State area and a slew of bar/club tours along the East Coast. Summer 2014 saw Chris release a political pop album, “World War 3” showcasing a different style of writing than his previous works citing “I wanted to really express myself and my opinions this time about myself and the world, everyone needs an outlet.” Chris would later release a Self-Titled album in 2016 singing about being Sober with “Out of the Darkness” and the empowering track “One of a Kind”. It was after this album cycle, CJ decided to break from writing and focused on acting, taking on the indie film circuit. In between the music, CJ has also performed in over 25 theatre productions and produced three YouTube series.
However, all was not lost. February 2019 saw the Anthology album, “Timeline” which allowed listeners to hear the entire catalog of songs including new rare tracks and remixes. It was the end of an era, or was it? March 2024 Chris silently dropped the lead single, “Call Me Crazy” crafting an infectious hook and repetitive chorus that would give you an earworm for days. “I Don’t Miss Loving You” & “Disposable Lover” followed and helped carry the album “Wish You Well” (July 2024) streaming over 10k plays in its first month of release. CJ is back in the studio, writing…. There is more to come.
Dispoable Lover is the third single from Wish You Well.
